Titusville Presbyterian believes in putting its faith into practice. Throughout the year, the church family participates in mission trips, outreach ministries, and community service projects.
West Trenton Community Center
The West Trenton Community Center, located at 510 Stuyvesant Avenue in Trenton, provides many services for its surrounding neighborhood, including a summer enrichment program for children and teens, a Thanksgiving turkey give-a-way, after school tutoring, and a Christmas day dinner. Titusville collects non-perishable food for a monthly food pantry at the center. People can participate by bringing food to the church’s narthex (entry way), volunteering to help run the pantry one month, or by donating funds so that the deacons can purchase additional food as needed.
Fire House Dinner
The Titusville deacons sponsor two dinners a year for the firemen and EMTs at Titusville’s Union Fire Company, one in May and the other October. These dinners are a way for the church to say “thank you” to the volunteers who keep the community safe. People can participate in the dinners by making a dish or dessert, or by serving dinner at the fire house.
Deacons Funds and Programs
The Titusville board of deacons is responsible, in part, for leading the congregation in mission and service. Through 2023, ten-percent of all non-designated funds given to the church will be given to the deacons to disburse through a grant process to non-profit entities that serve populations that the church members themselves may not be able to serve. Often, though, programs organizations that request such funding do provide ways for church members and friends to give hands-on assistance. Organizations that have received grants from the diaconate include FEBA, Woman Cradle of Abundance, an organization that works with children and women in Congo; the Trenton Ecumenical Area Ministry, which conducts such programs as entrepreneurship development for urban youth; ChoiceOne, an organization that provides counseling to pregnant women; and the Bible League, among others. Look for opportunities to work alongside the partners in ministry.
Summer Mission Trips
Titusville Presbyterian has a long-standing partnership with Karazim Ministries, a Freeport, Bahamas, based ministry that serves the forgotten poor of Grand Bahama Island through building sustainable agricultural and fishery resources, conducting annual Bible Schools, and more as needs arise. Each summer, a team of missionaries raises money to travel to Freeport to engage in work outside the United States. Although much of the trip is centered on hard work and productivity, the trip also serves to transform the hearts and minds of the participants so that they end up seeing the leading of God in their own lives in a new and fresh way.
